Putin Announces Increased Accessibility of Mass Sports in Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that popular sports will become more accessible in the country, RIA Novosti reports.
He also promised to create conditions for the effective training of professional athletes. "I am confident that through the joint efforts of business, the state and society we will be able to achieve all our goals," said President Putin.
In addition, President Putin ordered the expansion of the powers of the Ministry of Sports. He also called on the government to include health goals in all policy documents.
Earlier, President Putin mentioned the number of citizens who regularly engage in sports. He noted that in recent years this number has increased from 40% to 56.8% of Russians.
