Terminally ill King Charles III took risks to save the monarchy

Charles III took the risk of showing that he was not yet dead.

British King Charles III's official visits to Australia and Samoa are meant to show he is still alive, a former courtier told The Daily Beast.

In his opinion, the balance of power in the royal family was upset when the monarch was declared terminally ill. This is clearly evident in a video recently released by Kate Middleton and Prince William. Charles is not even mentioned in it and permission for publication was not sought. As the Daily Beast notes, the heirs to the throne act as if the king has little time left and no longer listens to his opinion.

The former courtier believes that to save the monarchy, Charles must demonstrate his health, and a trip to Australia would be perfect for this. The downside is that the world will immediately learn about the king's mistakes or weaknesses abroad. And if the British Buckingham Palace has such influence over journalists, then such tricks will not work with foreign media. According to courtiers, Charles knew about this, but still took the risk and went.

The decision to go to Australia is, in a sense, a risk. The point, roughly speaking, is to prove that he is not dying. The problem is that when something goes wrong, everyone immediately jumps to the opposite conclusion. But I think this is a turning point for Karl.

Earlier it was reported that Charles III's official visit to Australia was on the verge of being cancelled due to the suspension of his cancer treatment. Many prominent politicians, including the premiers of six Australian states, refused to meet with him.
