Former One Direction singer Liam Payne dies in Buenos Aires hotel
Liam Payne, the former lead singer of the British-Irish boy band One Direction, died after falling from a third-floor window of a hotel in Buenos Aires, the Daily Mail reported, citing law enforcement agencies in the Argentine capital.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening when Payne arrived in Buenos Aires to attend a concert by former bandmate Niall Horan.
Before his death, the musician had caused a disturbance in the hall and caused destruction in his room. Police arrived after receiving reports from hotel staff about an aggressive man who may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Payne's body was found on the hotel terrace. The singer suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the fall.
One Direction was formed in London in 2010 by members of The X Factor. The all-male group was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the first group in the history of the music industry to have three albums top the US charts. The group has been on hiatus since 2016.
