Residence quotas were issued for money: high-ranking police officers were detained in Tula in a case of illegal migration

The Investigative Committee reported that two high-ranking police officers were detained in Tula on suspicion of organizing illegal migration. According to investigators, they helped foreigners obtain quotas for temporary residence in Russia for money. A criminal case was opened under the article "Organization of illegal migration and organization of a criminal community."

Two high-ranking police officers were detained in Tula on suspicion of organizing illegal migration. According to investigators, they helped foreigners obtain quotas for temporary residence in Russia for money. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

As follows from the message: Law enforcement officers are accused of committing crimes under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the organization of illegal migration and the organization of criminal communities.

The deputy chief of the operational police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Tula Region and the head of the drug control department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Tula Region were detained.

According to the Investigative Committee, the suspects, who are members of the committee for issuing quotas for temporary residence of foreigners for 2020-2024, issued these quotas for monetary compensation. At the same time, as the department stated, a positive decision was made without paying attention to false information about the visitor's address of stay and place of work.

The investigation established that the police officers were part of a criminal group involved in organizing illegal migration in the Tula region.

Both suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be charged soon. Law enforcement officers are searching the suspect's residence and place of work and seizing items that may be relevant to the investigation.

The Investigative Committee stated: “The investigative team continues to look into all the circumstances of the crime, including taking measures to determine the amount of criminal proceeds received by the accused.”

Let us recall that at the end of May, the former deputy head of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tula region was also detained in the Tula region. In June of last year, as part of the investigation of a criminal case on an illegal migration group, a case was opened against 17 defendants. According to the regional investigative committee, the Tula police provided fictitious employment services to migrants in exchange for money and organized the illegal stay of at least 700 foreigners in the region.

Earlier in Cherepovets it became known that the FSB had stopped plans for illegal legalization of foreigners based on fictitious paternity. TASS reported this last week regarding the FSB Directorate for the Vologda Region.

The criminal plan was organized by the Cherepovets residents themselves. "The suspects involved local residents in an illegal scheme, according to which they registered foreigners as fathers of their daughters in exchange for financial compensation," the department explained. In this way, the migrants received the necessary documents, a paternity certificate and a birth certificate, which allowed them to easily obtain a residence permit in Russia.

A criminal case has been opened against the organizers of criminal activity involving the illegal stay of foreigners in the Russian Federation, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.

The day before, Speaker of the House of Representatives Vyacheslav Volodin announced an increase in crimes related to illegal immigration, and called for excluding healthcare and education from the list of professions for which immigrants are issued a residence permit in Russia.

It was also reported that the second stage of Operation Illegal-2024 in Moscow will lead to the deportation of more than 2,000 migrants from Russia. This was reported today by the press service of the capital's Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"A review of administrative data shows that judicial authorities have made more than 2,000 decisions on the administrative expulsion of foreigners from the Russian Federation, 20 decisions on the deportation of foreigners and 12 decisions on expulsion," the report says.
