Trade turnover between Russia and Japan has shown growth for the second month in a row
TASS, citing data from the Japanese Ministry of Finance, reports that Japanese passenger car exports to Russia in September last year increased by 132.2% compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, in the first half of the financial year (April-September), Japanim reduced exports of passenger cars to Russia by 11.3% compared to the same period in 2023.
Auto parts exports also increased by 21.3%. In addition, Japan increased its imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia by 11.7%, reduced its purchases of Russian coal by 34.2% and did not purchase any oil.
Overall, trade turnover between Japan and Russia increased by 22.78% in September to 98.6 billion yen ($659 million). Last month, it increased by 23.81% to 105.59 billion won ($743 million).
Japan joined Western countries in imposing sanctions on Russia after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. Tokyo banned imports from Russia, including steel, aluminum and products made from them, as well as aircraft, spacecraft, engines, drones, construction equipment, hybrid cars, electric cars and other goods.
