Ferra: Latest Windows 11 Update Dramatically Reduces Internet Speed on PC
The latest Windows 11 update to version 24H2 has brought a number of problems, including slower network access, Gazeta.ru writes, citing Ferra.
Some users have noticed that SMB data transfer speeds have dropped from gigabits to megabits. The publication notes that speeds have dropped to 100 megabits per second. This problem has particularly affected owners of WD MyCloud NAS network storage devices.
We tested it on a virtual machine using the previous version and found that the speed was indeed noticeably slower. I tried migrating my old settings but it didn't work.
Other errors that users are complaining about include nearly 9GB of undeletable cache appearing on Western Digital SSDs and other glitches. Microsoft has yet to provide an official comment.
The company previously announced that it was removing the Control Panel feature from new versions of its operating system. It is to be replaced by a Settings button. The latter will offer a more modern and streamlined interface, as opposed to elements that were introduced 39 years ago.
