Doctors talk about the injury of the deceased ex-soloist of One Direction
The British musician, former lead singer of the band One Direction, suffered a skull fracture after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Buenos Aires area, the TN portal reported, citing the head of the ambulance service, Alberto Crescenti.
"At 5:04 p.m. (11:04 p.m. Moscow time), we were alerted to a 911 call about a person in the courtyard of the Casa South hotel. <...> As a result of the fall, he suffered life-threatening injuries," Crescenti said.
He added that there was no chance of saving Payne. "The ambulance team determined that he had a basal skull fracture. "This is a very serious injury," the doctor explained.
Payne died on the night of October 17 at the age of 31. The singer gained fame after participating in the British boy band One Direction. The group broke up in 2016, after which Payne began a solo career. He claimed to suffer from depression and suffer from drug and alcohol addiction.
Before his death, he went on a rampage in the hotel room where the singer was staying. The manager called the police after an "aggressive man" who was "clearly in a bad mood" came down to the hotel lobby. According to her, Payne may have been intoxicated. The staff asked the musician to return to the hotel, and a few minutes later, Payne fell from the third floor into the hotel courtyard. When paramedics arrived, he was pronounced dead.
