Iran's Foreign Ministry Announces Suspension of Oman-Mediated Talks with US

Amid the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, indirect talks between Tehran and Washington mediated by Oman have been suspended, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakhchi said during his visit to Muscat, Oman, the Iranian Fars news agency reported.

"There used to be a dialogue called the Muscat process, which involved indirect contacts between Iran and the US through Oman, but now this process has been stopped due to the special situation in the region," he said.

Araghchi added that there is absolutely no way for Tehran to resume negotiations, saying it will be up to Iran to decide whether Israel will return to negotiations after the conflict with the Palestinian Hamas movement and the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah is over.

Iran's foreign minister earlier called on countries to redouble efforts to prevent Israeli attacks in Lebanon and Gaza. He also warned that Tehran was trying to avoid an all-out war in the Middle East but was ready to do everything possible to protect its citizens and national interests.
