Lavrov: Russia Doesn't Care Who Wins the US Presidential Election

Washington, October 7, 2024, 12:16 — IA Regnum. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on the 7th: “Russia does not care how the US presidential elections end, because there is a bipartisan agreement in Washington on confrontation with the Russian Federation.”

Regardless of who wins the US elections, Russia will defend its interests, especially in matters of national security, the minister stressed in an interview with Newsweek.

"If there are changes in American policy and proposals, we are ready to study them and see whether they serve our interests. In any case, we will resolutely defend Russia's interests, especially when it comes to issues of national security," Lavrov said.

The new US president must focus on the country's domestic problems, the Russian foreign minister added, adding that American voters clearly share this view.

The US presidential election will take place in November. The Democratic Party candidate is current US Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Republican Party candidate is former President Donald Trump.

As reported by the Regnum agency, American businessman Elon Musk earlier said that if Harris wins, the United States risks turning into a "one-party socialist state." Musk also spoke at a rally in support of Trump and said that the upcoming elections are the most important in American history.
