Third assassination attempt on Trump foiled in California

California, USA, October 14, 2024, 00:53 — IA Regnum. Riverside County, California Sheriff Chad Bianco announced on October 12 that he had thwarted a third assassination attempt on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The sheriff said deputies detained a man at a checkpoint before Trump's speech. Wham Miller, 49, tried to bring a shotgun, a loaded handgun and a high-capacity magazine into his car. He was detained but did not resist.

Wham Miller is a member of a right-wing anti-government group who was found to have a counterfeit ticket to a Donald Trump speech during a search.

As reported by Regnum, Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on July 13. He suffered a minor ear injury. The culprit was American Thomas Matthew Crooks (20), who was killed by security personnel at the scene.

The second assassination attempt on the former US president occurred on September 15, when he was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida. The politician was not injured in the incident. That same day, the FBI announced the arrest of suspect Ryan Wesley Root. A few days later, he was formally charged with the attempted murder of Trump and several other crimes. Root pleaded not guilty at his trial in Florida.

On October 11, White House Chairman Joe Biden issued an order to protect Trump as the sitting US president. He said military equipment would be provided to Trump if necessary. Biden also sent a message to the Iranian government that any attempts on Donald Trump's life must stop.

Donald Trump expressed concern about the high risk of World War III at a rally in California on October 12.
