FAS ordered MTS to transfer 3 billion rubles of illegally obtained income to the budget

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has ordered the operator PJSC MTS to transfer 3 billion rubles of illegally obtained income to the budget. This was reported by the FAS press service.

The service issued an injunction against the company after considering its antitrust case. In April and May 2024, the company increased the cost of mobile services by an average of 8% for more than 30 million subscribers. Such an increase is economically unjustified and violates the interests of consumers. In addition to the change in revenue, operators will also have to reduce tariffs for subscribers who will be affected by the increase in service costs.

The measures to confiscate illegal income from tariff increases and money transfers were applied by the agency for the first time when such violations were identified.

As reported to 78.ru by the MTS press service, the documents received from the FAS are under consideration. Based on the results of the assessment, the company will decide on further actions, including possible problems.

Earlier, 78.ru wrote that the FAS ordered MTS to reduce tariffs for communication services.
