Sobyanin: Moscow Planetarium is visited by about a million people annually
On November 5, 2024, the Moscow Planetarium celebrated its 95th anniversary. About a million people visit it every year.
"This is the first of its kind in the country and one of the most modern in the world," said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The main hall of the planetarium is located under the largest dome in Europe, with a diameter of 25 metres. The latest model of the Universarium M9 projector, capable of viewing approximately 9,000 stars, has been installed.
The planetarium hosts unique full-dome film screenings, stereo cinema projections with 3D effects, concerts and more.
The interactive Lunarium space features 92 exhibits, 23 of which are developed in the country. Visitors can “control” the elements and weather on Earth and even create solar flares, for example. At the Great Astronomical Observatory, visitors can explore the Sun, the Moon and the terrestrial planets.
