The amount of debts of Russians being collected by bailiffs has increased by a third
From January to September of this year, 10.9 million cases on debt collection worth 1.44 trillion rubles were opened in Russia. This is 34.2% more than in the same period last year. Data from the Federal Bailiff Service is cited by RBC.
One factor is that the average volume of bills issued is increasing due to rising prices, say the "debt consultants" at collection agencies.
Partner of the law firm GRM Sergey Novikov added: Borrowers who were unable to refinance their debt began to have problems with repaying loans. Previously, it was possible to partially repay an old loan by taking out a new one. But now the central bank is limiting its work with debt-ridden Russians.
