Pensions are expected to increase from December 1. Who is entitled to the increase and how much is it?
From December 1, 2024, Russia expects an increase in pensions for various categories of citizens.
In particular, pensioners who received pension payments at the beginning of January will receive two pensions at once in December, since payments are made in January taking into account indexation by 2025. This was reported by Oksana Krasovskaya, a lawyer at the European Legal Service.
She explained that pensioners who receive their salaries by mail must take into account the post office's work schedule. Next year, there are also plans to index pensions for working pensioners, which could lead to an increase when paid from January 1.
According to the current rules, fixed pension payments to pensioners who turn 80 in December 2024 will be increased by 100%. This means that your pension will increase by 8,134 rubles 88 kopecks.
The same increase applies to disabled people of group I, if they have been diagnosed with a disability. However, it is worth considering that if a disabled person of group I receives this supplement after he or she has already turned 80 years old, it will not be accrued again.
For pensioners over 80 and disabled persons of the 1st group, compensation is provided to persons caring for them. The amount of this payment is 1,200 rubles per month and can be adjusted taking into account the regional coefficient. Anyone caring for a pensioner must notify the authorities within five days of any changes in their work activity.
It is important to note that to receive the bonus, you must apply before the end of the year. From 2025, these payments will be automatically accrued to all pensioners over 80 years old and disabled people of the first group without the need to submit an application.
Pensioners with dependents can apply for a pension recalculation. The fixed payment for 2024 is 8,134 rubles 88 kopecks (2,711 rubles 63 kopecks) for each dependent. To do this, you must submit an application and provide the relevant documents.
"It is worth keeping in mind that by 2025, pensioners will face a number of innovations. For example, insurance pensions are planned to be increased by 7.3% from January 1. An important detail: both non-working and working pensioners will receive an increase. In addition, the index for workers will be the first since 2015. The issue of returning the index has been discussed several times and will be resumed in 2025," says lawyer Elena Kuznetsova.
Preliminary calculations show that after indexation, the pension of a working pensioner will increase by approximately 1,300 rubles.
