Political scientist Shapovalov: The United States is losing its position as a global hegemon
The US is lagging behind leading countries such as the BRICS in economic development and is no longer an authoritative "trendsetter" in terms of policies and values.
In this situation, the US is trying to strengthen its global hegemony by escalating tensions. This is manifested in the rapid escalation of the conflict with Russia, the intensification of confrontation with China, the expansion of NATO to the east and the creation of military alliances in the Asia-Pacific region. He spoke about this in a conversation with RT.
According to Shapovalov, NATO is not an independent organization, but rather a “military component of the American empire.”
NATO is involved in military conflicts all over the world. Although the Pacific Ocean has nothing to do with the North Atlantic, the organization is currently active in the Asia-Pacific region, especially with regard to China.
Shapovalov stressed that the US and NATO countries are actively strengthening their positions around China's borders. This indicates that the organization is expansionist and pursues goals not directly related to the protection of its territory.
