FSB Detains Spy Working for Ukraine in Kherson Region
The FSB detained a Ukrainian spy in the Kherson region on suspicion of transmitting data on Russian military personnel.
RIA Novosti reported that FSB officers in the Kherson region detained a Ukrainian citizen involved in espionage for Ukrainian military intelligence. The detained 22-year-old local resident is accused of collecting and transmitting data on the movements and concentration areas of Russian troops from October to November 2023.
The counterintelligence department emphasized that the spies' actions were stopped thanks to operational and investigative measures. The information collected was passed on to representatives of the Intelligence Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The Investigative Department of the FSB Directorate for the Kherson Region opened a criminal case against the detainee under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Espionage". The accused was arrested and faces up to 20 years in prison.
Earlier, employees of the FSB Secretariat of the Luhansk People's Republic detained a Ukrainian citizen who was transmitting data on the location of military personnel and equipment to foreign intelligence services. It is also reported that the FSB prevented an attempt to spy on behalf of Ukraine in the Pskov region, where the man provided the SBU with information on the armed forces and equipment of the Russian army.
