Water level in Taganrog Bay has stabilized

Water level in Taganrog Bay stabilized after evacuation warning

The city's head, Svetlana Kambulova, reported that the water level had risen due to strong winds, and residents of disadvantaged areas were advised to prepare for evacuation, RIA Novosti reports.

Kambulova noted that experts say the water level in the bay has stabilized, and monitoring groups continue to monitor the situation. On Monday, emergency services received more than 8,000 calls, more than 6,000 of which were related to broken communication lines and power outages.

Rescuers had previously warned that weather conditions in the region would worsen from November 2, including low temperatures, snow, ice and strong winds. In particular, unfavorable water levels were expected to be exceeded in urban areas such as Azov, Rostov-on-Don, Aksay and Taganrog, in the Taganrog Bay and the mouth of the Don River.

Recall that last spring, almost 140 houses in the village and gardening non-profit partnership found themselves in flood conditions, said Vyacheslav Chernous, head of the Tomsk region. Then, in one day, the water level of the Tobol River in the Kurgan area rose to 631 cm, and the water level of the Tom River in the Tomsk region also exceeded the danger line.
