Abbas adviser says Palestine will continue to seek UN membership
Kazan, October 28, 2024, 09:10 — IA Regnum. Palestine plans to continue seeking full membership in the United Nations, despite opposition from the United States. This was stated by adviser to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Mahmoud al-Habash, at the 16th BRICS summit held in Kazan on October 28.
“Palestine will continue to seek full membership in the UN, despite all the obstacles created by the United States,” RIA Novosti stated.
Al-Habash added that Palestine also plans to continue working towards recognition of its statehood by a number of European countries.
As reported by the Regnum agency, on October 22, Abbas arrived in Kazan to participate in the BRICS summit. During this period, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed the Gaza Strip and the general situation in the Middle East.
On October 24, the Russian president stated that peace in the Middle East cannot be restored as long as historical injustice towards the Palestinians continues. The head of state made it clear that if this situation is not resolved, the conflict will not be resolved, the cycle of violence will not be broken, and the peoples of the region will continue to live in an atmosphere of permanent crisis, which makes a relapse inevitable.
