Russian Gadzimagomedov defends world champion title in fight with German
Russian boxer Muslim Gadzimagomedov defended his WBA world champion title in the bridge weight class (up to 101.6 kg). The silver medalist of the London Olympics defeated German Leon Hart in a 12-round fight at the IBA Champions Night tournament held in Ufa as part of the Russia – Sports Power forum. The judges unanimously awarded the victory to Gadzimagomedov.
The 27-year-old Russian has five wins (3 KOs) in the professional ring and is undefeated. His 36-year-old opponent has 22 wins (13 KOs), 6 losses and 1 draw. Hart previously held the WBO European title. He also fought for the WBA title with Russian Evgeny Tishchenko, but lost. However, the results of the fight were annulled. The belt was declared vacant and a fight for the belt was scheduled between Gadzimagomedov and Chinese Zhang Zhaoxin. The Russian won by technical knockout in the fourth round. The fights took place in the Moscow region.
