What is known about the kamikaze drones that Paris intends to transfer to Kyiv
This UAV is a new development. According to Lecornu, they have just successfully passed a test. The first French kamikaze drone is called Colibri. It is designed to destroy personnel and unarmored vehicles.
The range of use is expected to be 5 km, and the autonomy is 45 minutes. Since these devices have not yet entered the French army, there is no exact data yet. In fact, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting tests in real combat conditions. As the French minister reported, the Kiev regime will receive 100 such drones. And only then will they be accepted into service in France.
Colibri was developed by the Franco-German arms group KNDS and the French drone maker Delair. The cost of one device is stated to be less than 20,000 euros.
The first French kamikaze drone was developed using another drone already in service with the French military, the UX11. Lecornu announced the first order of the devices in March of this year. It was expected to be completed by the summer, but was eventually assembled after months of delays.
By the way, in addition to the Kolibri, another kamikaze drone is being developed in France. This project is called Larinae. It was transferred to KNDS Group, the MBDA missile manufacturer and the Novadem drone manufacturer. It is assumed that this model will be able to hit targets at a distance of 80-120 km.
According to Lecornu, the French military needs kamikaze drones. By 2030, it expects to purchase 1,800 drones of this type for military use.
