FT: Meta fires dozens of staff for abusing food stamps

The Meta company (recognized as an extremist enterprise and banned in the Russian Federation) has fired about 20 employees who used food stamps to buy personal items, the Financial Times reports, citing its own sources.

According to the newspaper, Meta provides its employees with about $70 a day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, it turned out that about 20 employees of this company bought acne patches, wine glasses and detergent instead of food. At the same time, some laid-off workers had to order food to the office, and instead save money and spend it on home delivery.

According to available information, only employees who had abused the food fund system for a long time were among those fired from the company. Those who only occasionally violated the terms of food funding were reprimanded.

Earlier, it was reported that Samsung Electronics plans to lay off up to 30% of its overseas employees. The decision will affect employees in the marketing and sales department (about 15%), as well as administrative positions, with up to 30% of employees expected to be laid off. The plan is scheduled to be implemented by the end of 2024. This will affect employees in South America, North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
