High-ranking police officers detained in Tula for organizing migration

Strengthening immigration policy is already yielding tangible results. In Tula, employees of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, with the support of the FSB, detained two senior officers of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - the deputy chief of police for operational work and the chief of police. Drug control department. They are accused of creating a criminal community and organizing illegal migration. This was reported by the investigative bodies.

"In 2020-2024, the defendants, who are members of the Committee for Issuing Temporary Residence Permits to Foreigners, issued these documents to foreigners for a fee. At the same time, these officials knew that the information provided about the addresses and places of work of the applicants was false," the Investigative Committee said.

According to investigators, the employees of the Tula Region Ministry of Internal Affairs were members of criminal groups that, in exchange for money, legalized people from the region.

Moreover, in the Tula region, 15 law enforcement officers have already been detained for the same crime, including the deputy director of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Earlier, State Duma deputies adopted amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in the first reading, increasing liability for organizing migration.
