US eSportsman Apologizes for Offensive Words About Russia

Callahan publicly repented for his actions and explained that his comments were made in the midst of a bad game. He apologized to anyone who was offended by his words and expressed regret for what happened, RIA Novosti reports.

The incident occurred during a practice match, when Callahan was allowed to make negative comments about Russia during an argument with Kazakhstani player Egor Miller. This led to Callahan noting that he is working on himself and trying to reduce the amount of negative comments during games in the Russian-speaking Dota 2 community.

The management of the Gaimin Gladiators team also expressed dissatisfaction with Callahan's actions and issued him an official warning. The club promised to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Earlier, Callahan successfully fought against the Russian Anton Shkredov at the tournament The International, where Gaimin Gladiators became finalists.

The President of the Russian Federation of Computer Sports Dmitry Smith accused the Ukrainian cyber sportsman of Russophobia after he refused to shake hands with Russian players of the Virtus.Pro team at the Counter-Strike 2 tournament in Rio de Janeiro. Smith called this refusal Russophobia.
