Volodin called Intergirl involved in the collapse of the Union
The State Duma speaker spoke about the collapse of the Soviet Union and the role of famous and popular films of that time.
At a meeting of the State Council, where the bill on banning the propaganda of childless ideology was discussed, the Chairman of the State Council Vyacheslav Volodin recalled the film "Intergirl" and the events that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. The meeting was broadcast on the Duma TV channel.
"Look where the fall of the Soviet Union began. The film "Intergirl" was released in 1989, when the Central Committee of the CPSU was in effect. Everyone applauded, there was a line at the cinema, and even the secretary of the Central Committee watched. What are the results? The trade union no longer exists," Volodin said.
He also noted that if films promoting a healthy lifestyle begin to be made in Russia, the State Duma will support such projects, considering them important for shaping public opinion.
The film "Intergirl" is a two-part film by producer Pyotr Todorovsky based on the novel of the same name by Vladimir Kunin. The main character, a foreign currency prostitute, hopes to become a respected woman and dreams of marrying a foreigner and moving abroad. But having realized her dream, she realizes that she has not found happiness. The ending of the film is tragic. Her mother is persecuted when her dark past becomes known.
On October 17, the State Duma approved in the first reading a bill banning the propaganda of the ideology of childlessness. This means making a conscious choice to refuse to have children. This project proposes to amend six existing federal laws.
Volodin made it clear that the bill is entirely about banning the propaganda of this worldview, and the final decision about having children remains with the woman, emphasizing her concern for civil rights and freedoms.
