Putin Allows Russian Sports Minister Degtyarev to Participate in ROC Head Elections
Earlier, Degtyarev said that he would put forward his candidacy for the post of Chairman of the ROC with the permission of the President.
"From the point of view of the Olympic Charter, it allows national Olympic committees to elect representatives of state bodies at the Olympic Congress. According to Russian law, I must request permission as an official of the nomenclature," the minister said. Sports explained to the president.
He also stated that he fully shares the opinion of the Honorary President of the ROC Vitaly Smirnov on maintaining the autonomy of the Russian Olympic Committee.
In response, the President thanked Stanislav Pozdnyakov for his work as Chairman of the National Olympic Committee.
Earlier, President Putin said that the work of the Russian Olympic Committee must be coordinated. The President stressed that, despite all the difficulties, the Russian Orthodox Church must develop international cooperation. According to the Russian leader, it is necessary "to work with all interested partners and conduct creative and meaningful educational activities to promote the universal values of sports, especially among young people."
