"The activities of the Russian Olympic Committee also need to be coordinated," the Russian leader said. TASS said: "Despite all the known problems, it is important to increase efforts through international cooperation, work with all interested partners and conduct creative and meaningful educational work to promote the universal values of sport, especially among young people," he said.
President Putin also stressed the importance of improving the sports management system in Russia. According to him, work in this area has revealed the need for clearer interaction between state and public institutions, companies and entrepreneurs working in the field of physical education and sports. He noted that the resources of the state and society should be directed towards achieving national development goals and ensuring transparency in the industry.
On Thursday, President Putin said it was necessary to continue training professional athletes despite Russia's suspension from international competitions.
Earlier, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the connection between the Russian Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had effectively been severed amid the crisis in the Olympic movement.
