Live cockroach in patient's intestines puzzles doctors
A 23-year-old man from Delhi suffered from indigestion for several days and was eventually admitted to hospital. According to the Indian Express, doctors were shocked to find live cockroaches in the patient's small intestine.
Vasant Kunj, senior consultant, gastroenterology department, Fortis Hospital, explained that he had no idea that the patient had eaten a cockroach. But the most surprising thing is that the cockroaches managed to survive.
Removing the insect during an endoscopic procedure took 10 minutes. Indian doctors have warned that having live cockroaches in the small intestine can lead to a life-threatening situation or cause an infectious disease.
