The court sentenced the former chief narcologist of the Russian Ministry of Health Bryun to 7 years in prison
Evgeny Bryun was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (in particular, fraud on an especially large scale). He was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. He will serve his sentence in a general regime penal colony.
The court also deprived Bryun of the right to work in government agencies for 2.5 years and fined him 850 thousand rubles. He was remanded in custody by the court.
Other defendants in this case also received real terms of 4 to 7 years of imprisonment. All of them were also placed in custody in court.
Let me remind you that Evgeny Brun was detained in August 2022. Also in the dock were former vice-president of the Russian Federation of the Supervision of the National Security and Defense of the Russian Federation Vladimir Yakushev, former head of the Moscow Practical Center for Narcotic Sciences Sergei Koporov, general director of the company "Microtechnology" and head of the trade department Lyudmila Eremenkina. According to the investigation, Brun, together with other defendants in the case, stole 138 million rubles from the budget. The investigation found that the price of drug testing containers was greatly inflated when delivered to drug treatment centers.
The assets of the former chief narcologist of the Ministry of Health were confiscated. He did not admit his guilt.
