Former Chief Narcologist of Russia Bryun Sentenced
The Kuzminsky District Court of Moscow found the former chief narcologist of Russia, Yevgeny Bryun, guilty of embezzling more than 136 million rubles through fraud and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony, TASS reports.
Brun was also deprived of the right to work in public office for two and a half years. He also received a fine of 850,000 rubles. Brun was taken into custody immediately from the courtroom after the verdict was announced.
Prosecutors specifically demanded that 44 million rubles be collected from former chief Russian narcologist Yevgeny Bryun and his accomplices on charges of fraud on an especially large scale. Earlier, the prosecutor's office reported that Bryun was charged with embezzling 20 million rubles of budget funds during the supply of drugs to the Moscow Scientific and Practical Center for Combating Drugs.
