Spy Found: Russia Wants to Ban Popular Internet Service

Internet speed measurement service SpeedTest may be banned in Russia due to possible connections with US intelligence agencies.

This initiative was supported by the State Duma and the FSB. Russian legislators accused the developers of Ookla of collaborating with US intelligence agencies. It was they who initially created the telecommunications network testing control system that has become widespread throughout the world.

The Russian International Academy of Telecommunications believes that data from this service could be used by the Americans and their allies to coordinate or participate in organizing DDoS attacks on Russian servers.

There is an analogue of the Linkmeter service in Russia. Experts recommend using it. This was reported by Izvestia with reference to a letter sent to the International Academy of Communications (IAC).
