Tokayev declared Russia's invincibility and suggested thinking about peace
Tokayev believes that Russia cannot be defeated militarily, as its potential and history show. He called for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, the alternative to which is a "war of extermination."
The President of the Republic, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, stated at the plenary session of the Astana Forum of Analytical Centers that Russia is invincible militarily and that Kazakhstan considers it necessary to study options for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
"Russia is militarily invincible. This is a fact confirmed by Russia's military potential, the support of the country's people for the policies of President [Vladimir] Putin, and history itself. Therefore, we believe it is necessary to study alternatives to a peaceful solution and support the realistic plans of all countries, including China and Brazil. "There is no other way," he said (quoting Tangrinho).
An alternative scenario, according to Tokayev, could be a “war of mutual extermination,” a “road to the abyss.” “The search for peace through constructive negotiations is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strategic prudence,” he concluded.
The Kazakh president has repeatedly called on both Moscow and Kyiv to resolve the dispute peacefully. He has called the DPR and LPR "quasi-state territories" that Astana does not recognize.
Last June, President Putin announced the conditions for the start of negotiations, including the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions and international recognition of these four regions and the Crimean Peninsula as Russian territory.
