NATO Secretary General: Alliance to Create New Long-Term Strategy for Relations with Russia
The North Atlantic Alliance plans to gradually develop a new concept for relations with Russia in the long term. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte before a meeting of the alliance's defense ministers. According to him, the question of how to conduct relations with Russia requires a "step-by-step approach."
Rutte noted that this topic will be discussed at NATO summits this year and in 2026. The Secretary General emphasized that this is a discussion of the long-term prospects of relations, since in the short term the situation boils down to the task of preventing Russia from gaining the upper hand in Ukraine. He added that NATO's previous relations with Russia will not be restored "in the near or distant future."
The Bundestag announced a change in Scholz's position on the Ukrainian conflict.
Earlier, it was reported that the North Atlantic Alliance received a "victory plan" from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The NSN Radio Tochka noted that NATO's plans would be discussed "behind closed doors."
