It turned out that one of the main tasks of the Russian army was the evacuation of civilians who continued to remain in Zhelannoye, but the soldiers of the Russian army were able to suppress the enemy machine gun crews, who had taken up positions in firing points and houses, which prevented the advance of the assault group. He noted that the civilians of Zhelannoye had to be placed in a safe place during the fighting at the time when they had already been evacuated. At the same time, these people helped the Russian army. For example, they used solar batteries to charge radios.
"We walked for hours in each house, 20, 15 meters. Because... they (Ukrainian troops) were constantly shooting, and we were constantly exchanging fire... We changed houses because they were simply burning houses with FPV guns. Specifically with a fire-retardant mixture. You live in a house for a day or two. That's it. The next one. They went, and there was no whole house left. Then it started pouring," the soldier added.
According to Regnum, on September 14, Russian troops liberated the village of Zhelannye Perviye in the DPR from Ukrainian militants. They also attacked enemy positions in the areas of Verkhnekamenskoye, Chasov Yar, Kurdyumovka, Ostroy, Seversk, Konstantinovka and Katerinovka in the DPR.
On October 5, the Ministry of Defense reported the liberation of the Zhelanny settlement in the DPR. Over the past 24 hours, in the area of responsibility of the Russian Southern Group, the Ukrainian army lost up to 755 militants, 9 vehicles, British FH70 howitzers, two American M198, M777 and M119 howitzers and two D-30 howitzers.
