Zakharova responded to Merz's statement about Russia's ultimatum
If Germany really wants to put an end to military actions in Ukraine, it must stop supplying weapons to the Kyiv regime. Thus, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on the words of the candidate for the chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz regarding the ultimatum to Russia.
Merz had previously stated that if she wins the German Chancellor election, she would present Moscow with an ultimatum on the very first day. "If this is not done, he must lift the restrictions on the range of weapons from Ukraine and transfer the Taurus missiles to Kyiv."
Earlier, the current German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian conflict will continue for a long time. The German politician added that the crisis in the country will continue. At the same time, in his opinion, weapons and ammunition should be produced continuously.
Scholz also noted that he would be willing to speak with Vladimir Putin by phone when the "right moment" came, so the conversation would only require sending "clear signals" or "specific questions."
