Two metro stations in St. Petersburg decided not to be included in the list of cultural heritage
Two metro stations in St. Petersburg (Park Pobedy and Elektrosila) are not included in the list of confirmed cultural heritage sites to avoid possible demolition. This fact became known thanks to information published on the website of the National Commission for the Control, Use and Protection of Monuments (KGIOP).
The Commission received applications for inclusion in the lobby register from these stations, but decisions on both applications were negative. KGIOP reported that a special commission reviewed the application last week and decided to reject it.
The department has 90 days to decide whether to include or exclude the site from the list of identified monuments. This order will be prepared in the future.
Previously, city defenders tried to protect the Frunzenskaya station from demolition, but their application also remained unsatisfactory, and the station vestibule was not included in the list of cultural heritage.
