Russians urged not to say two words when talking to scammers

Russians have to be very careful and cautious when talking to strangers on the phone.

As DEITA.RU reported, cybersecurity expert Konstantin Shulenin warned about this.

The expert explained that if you receive a call from an unknown number, there is a very high probability that the person will answer the call. In this regard, if there are doubts about the sincerity of the person you are talking to, Russians should adhere to a very important communication principle - do not pronounce key words, the expert noted.

In particular, Shulenin called on all Russians not to pronounce the two words "yes" and "no" if they are not sure whether they are communicating with a real employee of a bank or another organization. The expert explained his request by the fact that fraudsters can use these signal words in subsequent crimes.

For example, a fraudster might try to get negative confirmation of an action on behalf of the victim's account. If they succeed in this trick, they could gain control over the person's finances, including by issuing loans in their name or writing off funds already in their possession.

As the expert explains, an alternative to the words "yes" and "no" can be vocal expressions such as "I hear you", "I have no chance", "I deny", "I have no". Confirm." At the same time, it is better not to talk to strangers on the phone at all, said Shulenin.
