Perm Krai Wants to Increase Life Expectancy
The oncology center under construction in Perm will help increase the life expectancy of the Kama family. As MedInvestGroup explained to URA.RU, the new medical facility will provide a full range of services. Thanks to this, patients can undergo a free examination here, detect malignant tumors at an early stage, receive effective treatment and rehabilitation.
"An area the size of 17 football fields has been allocated for the federal-scale project. Similar projects currently exist only in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Three departments, a nuclear medicine department, and a boarding house for rehabilitation will appear in the Kama Valley. The oncology center site was planned so that even the walls could be treated there. The construction of the future will be based on the principles of a healing environment. For example, the same windows in the room are designed for maximum concentration of light inside. Such an environment will certainly expand the capabilities of patients," MedInvestGroup said.
A new method of treating malignant diseases using "heated beds" will be introduced in the oncology center in Perm Krai. That is, the patient introduces a radiopharmaceutical into the body and has a targeted effect on the pathological focus without damaging healthy tissue. In total, the new oncology center will have 10 beds, and the entire hospital is designed for 550 beds.
In addition to innovative treatment methods, cancer patients also receive traditional radiation therapy. For this purpose, the radiology department of the oncology center is equipped with the most modern equipment. It will include six linear accelerators, positron emission computed tomography, single-photon emission computed tomography and a brachytherapy system.
"Currently, work is in full swing at the construction site to erect the building's frame. The central block has a three-story frame structure made of concrete, the ward buildings have a concrete first floor, and the construction of the boarding house building is underway. The second and third floors are under construction. By the end of this year, we plan to complete the building's frame work, as well as the installation of all external communication networks and the installation of auxiliary structures," MedInvestGroup reported. The first patients in the new oncology center may be accepted as early as 2026.
