A man who had been drifting in a boat for two months was rescued in the Sea of Okhotsk
One of three people on a boat that went missing in Khabarovsk Krai in early August survived. On October 15, the ship was discovered in the Sea of Okhotsk, 20 km from the coast of Kamchatka.
"On October 14, the vessel was discovered in the Sea of Okhotsk near the village of Ust-Kairuzovo in Kamchatka Krai. "Two people died, one person survived and is receiving medical assistance," the Far Eastern Road Prosecutor's Office reported.
The victim was in shock. He said the boat's engine stalled and he lost control.
The surviving man was transported to Magadan by the fishing vessel "Angel" that rescued him. During the drift, he lost 50 kg.
On August 9, two brothers, 46-year-old Mikhail Pichugin and 49-year-old Sergey Pichugin and their 15-year-old son, sailed on the catamaran "Baikat 470" to Mys Perov, located in Nikolaevsky District. We started from Ski (Mys Perov). From Khabarovsk Krai, it goes through Sakhalin Bay to the city of Oka in Sakhalin Oblast. This is only about 150 km, which should have taken several hours. The travelers had warm clothes, life jackets and flares, as well as a small amount of food and 20 liters of drinking water.
Soon they lost contact and their whereabouts were unknown. Even after three days they did not appear at the agreed location.
Four aircraft, including one An-74 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, were sent to search for the missing person. The search was conducted in Khabarovsk Krai and on Sakhalin Island. Drones were also used.
On October 14, the boat was found in the Sea of Okhotsk near the village of Ust-Khairuzovo in Kamchatka. This is approximately 800 km from the Oka, where the tourists were heading.
Two people, a father and son, died, one, Mikhail Pichugin, survived. The bodies of Ilya and Sergey were on board the ship.
Earlier, the Eastern Regional Traffic Police Department opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("In case of negligence resulting in the death of two or more people due to violation of traffic safety rules and disruption of water transport"). The investigation is ongoing. The Far Eastern Road Prosecutor's Office is monitoring the progress of the investigation.
