Canada to expel six Indian diplomats
In Ottawa, Canadian authorities have decided to expel six Indian diplomats, the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The department noted that six Indian diplomatic and consular officers have received expulsion notices in connection with a campaign against Canadian citizens carried out by agents linked to the Indian cabinet.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police had information about the involvement of these individuals in illegal activities. In order to question them, India was asked to waive diplomatic immunity and cooperate with the investigation. But New Delhi did not agree to these demands, and Ottawa decided to expel the diplomat.
Relations between Ottawa and New Delhi deteriorated further after Canada decided in September 2023 to expel one of India's top diplomats over his alleged involvement in Nizar's murder. New Delhi considers him a terrorist. In response, India denied the charges and expelled Canadian diplomats.
Earlier it was reported that Canada and the Nordic countries are forming an alliance against Russia and China.
