Tyumen residents filmed a comet in the sky above the city

A Tyumen resident managed to photograph an unusual astronomical phenomenon: comet C/2023 A3 (Zijinshan - ATLAS), passing by Kuliga. She shared her successful photos with the editorial staff of 72.RU.

As amateur astronomers write in the “Old Tower” community, it will be possible to observe the comet for another week, but it is best to do this outside the city, where there is less light.

— If you don’t have the opportunity [to leave the city], find a place with an open western horizon. The comet will look like a small star with a tail. Observations can begin at 19:00, when the sky is already completely dark. If you have binoculars or a spotting scope, take them with you. The Stellarium or StarWalk mobile app helps find objects and direct them to experienced astronomers.

Of course, not all Tyumen residents were so lucky. Thus, Tyumen photographer Evgeny Bushuev shared his experience of an unsuccessful comet hunt.

"I could only watch it on the computer, and it was cold as a dog, but the sunset was beautiful, of course. I described this beauty so that you could share my feelings!" he commented sarcastically on his VKontakte page.

Earlier, astronomer Vladimir Surdin explained why polar lights have become increasingly common in Tyumen. According to him, all this is connected with changes in the Earth's magnetic field and solar activity.
