The Central Bank is considering another increase in the key rate
The Bank of Russia has allowed for an increase in the base interest rate at a meeting of the board of directors to be held in October. This was reported by the regulator's deputy chairman, Alexey Zabotkin.
The last time the Bank of Russia raised the base interest rate to 19% was at a meeting in September. At that time, banks had already raised interest rates on deposits and loans in advance to prepare for such a situation.
But since then, regulator officials have repeatedly said that another hike is possible due to high inflation, which is the upper limit of central bank expectations. Experts believe that the percentage could immediately rise to 21%, not 20%.
