Vedomosti: Russian companies suffered over 200 major data leaks in 2024
Over the first 9 months of 2024, 210 databases of Russian companies' clients were posted on hidden Internet forums and specialized Telegram channels. This was reported by Vedomosti, citing information from analysts at the Threat Intelligence Cyber Intelligence department of FACCT (formerly Group IB).
Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of data breaches increased by 37.25%, with only 153 databases released in the first nine months of 2023.
According to FACCT, the number of corrupted records increased by 7.76%, reaching 250.5 million lines. The total number of public lines in 2023 was 397 million, in 2022 - 1.4 billion, and in 2021 - only 33 million. The company's analysts emphasize that attackers are primarily interested in databases containing phone numbers, usernames, dates of birth, passport data, email address, home and work addresses, password and IP address.
Earlier, analysts from the Dlbi data leak service reported that customer data from the Burger King fast food chain had become publicly available.
