Putin submitted to the State Duma a bill on ratification of the strategic partnership agreement between Russia and the DPRK

Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma a bill on ratification of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The bill (740196-8) was published in the State Duma's legislative database on Monday.

The draft federal law states: “We ratify the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, signed in Pyongyang on June 19, 2024.”

Under the terms of the Treaty, both parties undertake not to conclude agreements with third countries that could threaten sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, free choice, development of political, social, economic, cultural and other systems. Protect the vital interests of the other party and refrain from such actions.

"In the event of an immediate threat of an act of armed aggression against one of the Parties, the Parties must immediately use channels of bilateral consultations to adjust their positions and agree on a possible working agreement at the request of either Party. "Measures to support each other to eliminate emerging threats," the treaty says.
