Muscovites urged not to take shelter under trees due to possible fall

Muscovites are urged not to hide under trees and not to park cars nearby in bad weather. This warning was published on the Telegram channel of the capital's municipal service.

According to the department, cases of fallen trees have been recorded in the city. City services will cut it down and remove it immediately.

Expert of the Meteonovosti agency Tatyana Pozdnyakova reported that since the beginning of October 14, almost 15% of the monthly precipitation norm has fallen in Moscow.

"The snow that fell in Moscow during the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on October 14 has become almost legendary in the 21st century. The climate is getting warmer. What kind of snow falls in the middle of autumn? And this month it became a reality. That's all," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

By 18:00, the capital had received an average of about 10 mm of precipitation, first as rain and then wet snow. The monthly amount of precipitation in the capital in October is 70 mm. Wet snow covered the ground to a height of 2-3 cm. The weather forecaster recalled that the last time similar conditions were observed in Moscow was in 2007.

"And in one day the landscape changed from autumn to winter. And on October 15, 2007, the snow depth at VDNKh was 2 cm. Perhaps tomorrow the weather station will measure the snow level. I am on the cover for the first time this season," Pozdnyakova concluded.

On the morning of October 14, the first snow fell in Moscow. At the same time, the previous night was the coldest since the beginning of October. The lowest temperature at VDNKh was 2.4 degrees, and in Lukhovitsy, Moscow Region, the air cooled to negative values.

The yellow danger level will remain in the Moscow region until October 15, as frosts are expected at night. On Tuesday evening, the temperature in Moscow will exceed 0 degrees and reach negative values. Precipitation in the form of wet snow and rain will continue.

Due to bad weather, the data center advised Muscovites to switch to public transport. Heavy traffic was recorded on the Moscow Ring Road in the area of Leningradskoe Shosse, the center of the Third Transport Ring in the area of Berezhkovsky Bridge, and Yaroslavskoe Shosse in the area of Severianinsky Viaduct towards the outer side.

Accordingly, the Yandex, Yandex Go, Whoosh and MTS Urent services have temporarily suspended operations in Moscow due to bad weather. They are scheduled to resume operations in the future.

Meanwhile, Sheremetyevo Airport advised passengers to leave for the airport early. Passengers were also advised to get to the airport by Aeroexpress. Sheremetyevo continues to serve passengers and airlines on schedule.
