Russian Man Arrested for Killing Woman Over Earrings 20 Years Later

A resident of St. Petersburg will appear in court for killing a woman 20 years ago because of her earrings.

A 46-year-old man from the Leningrad Region will appear in court in St. Petersburg on charges of killing a woman for her earrings. This was reported to Lenta.ru by the city prosecutor's office.

According to investigators, on May 12-13, 2001, a man stalked a woman in a residential building on Dachny Prospekt when she was returning from walking her dog. He followed the victim into the elevator, then went up the stairs with her and attacked her when she began to open the door.

Having hit the woman's head on the concrete floor, the accused dragged her into the apartment by her legs, took a gold earring out of her ear and began searching the apartment. When the victim began to come to, the man tied his hands with a leash, covered his head with a coat and ran away. The injuries sustained were incompatible with life and the woman could not be saved.

A Russian man who stabbed his wife to death and hid her in a basement has been sentenced to nine years in prison, it has been reported.
