Mishustin to remove barrier to rapprochement with Belarus

Moscow and Minsk will remove barriers to accelerated integration. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced at the Made in Russia export forum that the activities of the Industrial Software (SW) working group will be discussed at the next meeting of federal ministers. As experts explained to URA.RU, both governments are trying to integrate the IT sphere so that companies can develop joint projects.

Representatives of one of the companies participating in the export exhibition asked Mishustin to speed up the work of the joint working group on industrial software operating on the territory of the federal state. The Prime Minister replied: "The meeting of the union ministers will take place within one to two weeks." He promised to raise this issue in negotiations with his Belarusian colleagues.

Moscow and Minsk are trying to eliminate shortcomings in the industry that are hindering greater integration, Vladimir Kireyev, Deputy Director of the Federal National Center for the Study of Social Integration, explained to URA.RU. "There is a very high demand for software for collaboration, including industrial software. There is a downside to this. They are delaying the integration of the two countries," the expert believes.

Independent industry expert Leonid Khazanov said that Belarus and Russia need to develop joint software for various sectors of the economy. This is because it is an inevitable part of the efforts for economic reconciliation between the two countries. Previously, both countries used American and European software, but now both countries are creating their own software, he said. "Belarusian industry is closely related to ours. Therefore, this issue should be resolved quickly within the framework of the integration of the two countries," he stressed.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko signed an agreement on cooperation in science, technology and innovation in March 2023. The Russian Prime Minister said that both countries have great potential in mechanical engineering and electronics, which must be fully developed.
