More than a thousand bags of oil-contaminated pebbles were collected on a beach in the Tuapse region
- In the coastal area of Gizel-Dere in the south, loading of oil-contaminated soil has begun. The head of the Tuapse region, Sergey Boyko, reported on his Telegram channel that four special vehicles will be used to remove it.
Before that, it took several days for specialists to remove contaminated gravel and sand. Boyko said more than a thousand bags had been collected.
We remind you that on October 8, a high alert regime was introduced in the Shepinsky rural settlement due to an oil spill. Large oil spills were found in the sea and on the beaches of the Gizel-Dere - Yuzhny sector. Rosecology employees determined that this was an oil product.
Law enforcement agencies are investigating to find those responsible for environmental crimes. Beaches near the spill are currently closed.
The Southern Transport Prosecutor's Office said it had collected samples of seawater from the accident site.
