Russian troops reached the outskirts of Sudzha. They consolidated their positions in the area where the Ukrainian army began its invasion of the Kursk region.

Russian troops reached the outskirts of the city of Susa in the Kursk region and took control of the highway.

Russian troops continue their active counteroffensive in the Kursk region. The army has reached the outskirts of Sudzha and taken control of an important highway.

According to Mash, the attack aircraft have secured a foothold in the area of the Lotos gas station southeast of Sudzha. Here, starting in July, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began an active invasion of Russian territory. Russian troops also took control of the highway connecting Sudzha with the village of Belaya, located to the east.

The village is located 7 km east of Sudzha. Marines of the 810th Brigade and Akhmat special forces are serving there. Control over the settlements would allow the Russians to occupy the high ground above Sudzha.

Among other things, the 155th and 106th brigades continue their offensive northwest of Sudzha from the already partially controlled Lyubimovsky direction. Russian troops are surrounded by Ukrainian fighters.

Just five days after the start of the second stage of the counteroffensive, Russian troops liberated 11 settlements, including the villages of Zeleny Shulyak, Leonidovo, Mikhaylovka, Novy Put, Medvezhye and Nizhny Klin, Lyubimovka, Novoivanovka, Olgovka, Tolsty Lug, and Sheptukhovka.

Military expert, retired captain 1st rank Vasily Dandykin, noted in a conversation with Lenta.ru that Russian troops in the Kursk region are using the tactics of a small cauldron to put pressure on the enemy. He also suggested that the next week will be decisive.

On October 12, the commander of the Akhmat special forces, Apti Alaudinov, reported the liberation of 19 settlements in the Kursk region. However, he did not specify how many remained under the control of the Ukrainian military.

As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, Russian troops tried to push back Ukrainian positions in the area. "As for the Kursk operation, there were attempts by Russia to withdraw its position, but we remain somewhat vigilant," the politician said.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian publication "Strana" writes that Russian troops in the Kursk region have advanced "to the left flank of the Ukrainian bridgehead," threatening to encircle parts of the Ukrainian army.

On October 10, military blogger Yuriy Podolyaka reported that Russian troops had begun to "break through along the front" in the Kursk region. Mash wrote that about 15,000 Ukrainian army servicemen were surrounded near the village of Olgovka.
