Necessary qualities of a fifth-generation carrier-based aircraft have been named

He emphasized that carrier-based aviation in Russia developed later than in the United States. The Soviet carrier-based vertical takeoff and landing attack aircraft Yak-38 had a flight range of about 100 km. This is not enough for modern aircraft carriers.

"Now we need aircraft that can fly far so that we have good detection devices. In addition, aircraft equipped with only radar also need to operate together. We certainly have the engineering and design capabilities to develop these aviation applications. Especially in countries with long maritime borders, such as Russia, carrier-based aviation is very important and is in high demand," Taskayev said.

In early October, the general director of the Krylov State Research Center, Oleg Savchenko, announced the development of a conceptual design for a modern aircraft carrier for the Russian Navy.

In March last year, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Navy, retired Vice Admiral Vladimir Pepeliaev stated that the future fifth-generation fighter Su-57 is being considered as a carrier-based aircraft.
