The lawyer for Laurent Vinatier, a Frenchman found guilty of evading the law on foreign agents (he was recognized as a foreign agent in Russia), is appealing the verdict, RIA Novosti reports.
Vinatier was sentenced to three years in a general regime penal colony. The investigation and the court established that the Frenchman had failed to fulfill his obligation to provide documents necessary for inclusion in the register of foreign agents for several years.
The prosecution had asked for 3 years and 3 months in prison for the Frenchman, while the defense insisted on a non-custodial sentence.
Earlier it was reported that those found guilty of attempting to blow up the FSB building in Moscow were unable to appeal the verdict.
